Skimboarding Contest

May 15, 2009

Laguna Skimboarding Legend Headed to Mexico May 14, 2009 PRESS RELEASE

Laguna Beach, CA Bill Bryan, current skimboarding World Champion and founder of The Cabo Classic Skimboarding Competition in Los Cabos, Mexico, is continuing his competition despite the economic and health crises in Mexico. Although some sponsors and the board of directors of the United Skim Tour (UST) decided to pull out, Bill took it upon himself to push the competition forward not only because it is one of the premier skimboard competitions in the world, but also because of the significance it has on the local economy in Los Cabos.

The competitors and guests will bring down gear and prizes to hand out to the locals, as well as raise money through t-shirt sales that will be donated to Amigos de los Ninos (www.adlncabo.com), a medical non-profit organization in Cabo that helps support needy families in the area.

There are children and families in need all over the world. It would be a shame and selfish on our part to miss an opportunity to help others by canceling this contest for our own self-preservation, said Bill. Besides, Cabo has some of the best waves in the world and there is no way we are missing out. On top of that, this competition is the gateway to expanding the sport of skimboarding.

The 12th annual contest is scheduled for this Friday through Sunday May 15th-17th and has been dubbed, Cabo 09 Sooo Sick. There will be a pre-contest meeting at The Love Shack in Cabo Thursday night before the competition, signifying the kickoff of another great event for locals and tourist alike.
Unfortunately because the UST and its board of directors decided to cancel the event, the event has been removed from the 8 stop UST tour of 2009. Regardless, the show will go on. With help from generous sponsors, the entry fees have been dropped and Bill is working diligently to produce cash and prizes for the competitors and locals as in years past.

Florida based Finless Clothing, Skimcity and Apex Skimboards have helped rescue the event with cash donations. Local companies Main Street Surf Shop, Deckem, Catch Surf, and Wreckless Clothing have also been a huge help by donating time, merchandise and prizes for the event. As always along with the hardcore pros and amateur riders who make the trek, the locals in Cabo are among the best skimmers of the huge, dangerous and exciting shorebreak of the area, so the level of riding will remain top-notch.

This exciting competition will kick off what is destined to be another fantastic summer for the developing sport.

Worth of Action Sports Autographs

April 1, 2009

There are not a lot of action sport autographs on the market today. So if you look at a supply and demand equation the demand far outweighs the supply so the price points are relatively high. However the problem deepens in that there are only a few outlets who sell autographs from action sports atheletes. Only 1 or 2 actually have their items authenticated. Check out the sites and look for action sport autographsas they will be worth a lot more down the road. I want to get MR’s autograph or Eddie Aiakau’s. That would be legendary!! Get them now while you can. Get some Kelly Slater autograph for sure as they will be worth big bucks in a few years.

Enjoy,

Longboard Skateboards

March 31, 2009

longboard skateboards are so much fun. Not to mention great exercise. If your in the market for a new one we are going to discuss the top brands out there right now. The current market leader is Sector 9 as they have a large line of boards and now have the backing of Billabong. However if your like me and you want something new and original you should try riviera skateboards or koastal skateboards. Both brands make great longboard skateboards with fun graphics.

Enjoy your riding,

Incubus

Surfing Autographs “Were do you get them”

March 30, 2009

Surfing autographs are tough to find and you have to be strategic as to the way you will get them. The best way and the cheapest is to go to surfing events were they might have autograph signings. I was able to get a clay marzo autograph by going to the US Open of Surfing and waiting in line for hours. However for someone like Kelly Slater who doesn’t do autographs as much and only does about 12 events per year it is much harder to get a kelly slater autograph.

Good luck out there,
